Richard

Richard has a keen desire to understand how the human body moves, ages and manages pain. This passion for learning brought him to Somatic Movement 25 years ago. In that time, he has completed his Applied Somatic Education Training and a variety of Yoga Teacher Trainings, including Hatha and Yin Yoga.
He brings a positive and inquisitive approach to class, encouraging students to explore their range of comfort and move mindfully within it. Richard inspires students to be present while they practice; to be aware of how they are breathing and moving and to sense how they feel before and after each practice. This helps students develop a greater degree of sensory motor awareness in their body.
Richard believes that when students learn and understand how their muscles function, they are able to bring ease to their nervous system, experience comfort and re-condition a new normal. With this knowledge, they can become self-sustaining in their own body, learn to walk with SWAG and put some FUNC back in their life!
